Postdoctoral Research Position in Computational Systems Biology
Pay grade E 13 – E14 TV-L Berlin (depending on qualification, part-time possible)

The position will be under a fixed-term contract for two years with the option to be extended. Starting date is July-October 2015, subject to the release of funds.
Tasks
The main task comprises research in the BMBF funded project BovSys "Mathematical modelling of bovine fertility and metabolism". The focus is on the development of mathematical models for reproductive processes in dairy cattle and their control by genetic, nutritional and physiological factors. Efficient algorithms are to be developed that allow to match model simulations with experimental measurement data and to quantify uncertainties in model predictions.
Requirements
- Expertise in numerical mathematics and/or mathematical modelling.
- Experiences in the modelling of biological systems, preferentially in terms of differential equations, and knowledge of SBML are desired.
- Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran or similar).
- Ability to work independently and goal-oriented in an interdisciplinary research team.
- Good communication skills in English.
